Is Blogging Fun? 5 Bloggers That are Laughing All The Way to the Bank

Is blogging fun? A friend of mine asked me that recently – and I was slightly taken aback by the question.

But then I realized that she really had no idea what it is that I do.

And you know what? It’s my fault completely – because as an entrepreneur it is my job to communicate my mission more clearly.

Let me give you a little more detail.

The other day I met a friend for lunch. She asked me how my morning had gone.

I said – good, I spent it writing a blog post.

You know what she asked me?

“Oh … blogging, is that fun?”

Now, let’s put this in perspective.

Would you ask your dentist – “Oh … pulling teeth, is that fun?”

Or your accountant – “Oh … doing taxes, is that fun?”

Of course not.

I mean, well – I hope they enjoy the professions they chose.

My point is that when you work at a “job” no one asks you if it’s fun, because they know you are doing it for your livelihood.

But blogging is a different story.

Most people don’t realize that you can make money blogging. Real money.

Thanks to a blogging course called Elite Blog Academy, I am now starting to see my blog grow and I am actually making some cash every month.

And while I still have a ways to go, there are some bloggers that are crushing it online.

These 5 Bloggers in particular are an inspiration to me and I hope to one day join their ranks.

Making Sense of Cents – Michelle Schroeder-Gardner

You may have already heard of Michelle – she is a young blogger that makes over $100,000 per month from her blog.

Her income comes from sales of her course Making Cents of Affiliate Marketing and from affiliate marketing (of course!).

In the month of February 2018 alone she made $179,139 – amazing!

But success like that doesn’t just come from pure luck.

You have to work hard at building your blog and your audience.

On her blog, Making Sense of Cents, Michelle offers advice on how to make money, save money, and pay off debt.

Because she lives on the road in her RV – she blogs about that too.

So you see, yes – blogging is fun but it is also hard work, too.

The Busy Budgeter – Rosemarie Groner

Rosemarie Groner is a graduate of Elite Blog Academy.

On her site – The Busy Budgeter, Rosemarie provides budgeting tips and ideas for managing money.

She started her blog in 2014 because she wanted to create a full time income from blogging.

Previously, Rosemarie had been a State Trooper and also ran an in-home daycare.

While she no longer publishes income reports on her site, Rosemarie’s last one (in January 2017) shows she made over $86,000 in that month alone.

While she attributes much of her blogging success to Elite Blog Academy, I see something else at play here, too.

During her first year blogging, Rosemarie only worked 10 hours per week!

The only way to achieve that kind of success on such limited hours is to have an extremely tight focus.

And that is what she did. She worked through the course while keeping her blinders on.

Is blogging fun? Once you start making money – yes it is!

Crowd Work News – Sireesha Narumanchi

Sireesha Narumanchi’s blog – Crowd Work News – provides information about side hustles that people can do to create an income form working at home.

In March 2018 she earned $4,512 from her blog.

Her income comes from a variety of affiliate programs and from ads.

To make money from ads you need a good amount of blog traffic. So, Sireesha is focusing her future efforts on Pinterest and SEO.

It’s funny, because when my family sees me on Pinterest during the day – they think I am just whiling away the time, when actually I am working.

It’s a good thing that I do enjoy pinning – so blogging is fun for me.

JenniferMaker – Jennifer Marx

Up until now, all the bloggers that I mentioned are in the make money/save money/budgeting niche.

So, you might be wondering if you can make money blogging on an entirely different topic – maybe even something that you are passionate about.

Well, Jennifer Marx is a DIY blogger and blogs at JenniferMaker.com. To be completely transparent, Jennifer does have a few how to blog articles on her site, but she primarily blogs about crafts and projects.

In February of 2018 her estimated income is $18,500 for one month.

Is blogging fun for Jennifer? It sure seems that way. Yes, it’s a lot of work but she gets to express her creativity with DIY projects and make money while doing it.

Jennifer is also a student of the Elite Blog Academy.

MomFabulous – Julie Bonner

Julie Bonner blogs about beauty and lifestyle topics at MomFabulous.

While she doesn’t publish income reports – she does earn a full time income from her blog.

And she doesn’t blog about finance topics or about blogging.

I would say Julie’s topic is a lot of fun.

More Success Stories

The majority of the bloggers that I listed here are all students in Elite Blog Academy or EBA for short.

While you don’t have to take EBA to be a successful blogger, it is a roadmap and can cut the time down that it would take for you to figure everything out on your own.

Why I Decided to Start a Blog

I started a blog many years ago – in 2007 to be exact. Like Julie Bonner above, I was kind of lost – for years actually.

Being a bit of a gadget geek helped me to learn my way through the technical side of things, but I was confused as to what to write about, who to write to, and what my overall message was.

So, I kind of dabbled with it – on and off – for a really long time.

Because I didn’t treat my blog like a business, it never became a business.

But as my kids got older, I knew that I wanted to create an income for myself.

I didn’t want to “go back to work” and work for someone else after years of being a stay at home mom.

I loved my freedom and flexible schedule. And I knew I wouldn’t be able to command the same salary that I was earning all those years ago as an accountant when I left the workforce.

Blogging seemed to be my best option.

So I hunkered down and signed up for Elite Blog Academy.

Last year was the first year that I actually made money with my blog and I am on track for an even better 2018.

I am finally doing what I love to do and making money with it.
