As of December 4, 2023 the Evernote Free Plan has changed.

The new free plan has become a bit more like a free trial as opposed to a free plan.

While there are a bunch of differences, I think the major news is that if you sign up for the free plan, you are limited to one notebook and 50 notes.

However, if you are current Evernote Free user – your old notebooks and notes will be preserved, you just won’t be able to edit them.

If you rely on Evernote to manage your daily life, you will probably need to upgrade to a paid plan – and you can compare the features and pricing of all of the plans here.

On the other hand, if you only use a note taking app occasionally, you might want to take a look at this list of Evernote alternatives instead.

Why a Paid Plan Makes Sense

We have all heard the saying that “you get what you pay for” – and that is no different when it comes to online programs like Evernote.

Evernote continues to add features and maintain a robust platform. In order to do this, they do need to charge for their product.

Currently, Evernote offers 4 different plans as follows:

The Evernote Personal Plan will be more than adequate for people that use it for home use.

Consider the cost an investment into keeping your information organized.

Choose Your Note Taking App Wisely to Stay Organized

I think the biggest obstacle that people have when it comes to paying for a note taking app is having to pay for something that was once free.

Back in the day, I signed up for so many different note taking apps that were free because I wanted to try them all out, and each one had different features that appealed to me.

But this really backfired – what happened is that I created a huge mess with my notes scattered across so many different platforms.

It took a lot of time for me to sort through all that information and corral everything into one place.

You may not realize how important digital organization is to your productivity.

So, whether you choose Evernote or a different note taking app – be sure to pick a platform that you like and stick with it.

Is the Evernote Free Plan Enough for You?

Given the changes to the Evernote Free plan – namely one notebook and 50 notes – will it be enough for your digital organization needs?

If not, consider upgrading to the Personal plan or migrating your notes to a different note taking app.
